Paris – The case of secret leakage of Renault electric cars by 3 Renault managers invite concern from French Industry Minister, Eric Besson. Besson said it was an act of espionage and economic war.

“Unfortunately, this scandal seems so serious,” Besson said on RTL radio as reported by AFP on Thursday (06/01/2011).

Besson said that after discussions with one of Renault’s management. “The expression of the economic war, although sometimes outrageous, for this time is right,” he said.

Besson also asked for increased security at the Renault manufacturing companies that receive assistance from the French government that in fact this is the result of the tax collection from French peoples.

Previously for leaking company secrets that should be tightly guarded, 3 managers of Renault manufacturer suspended by the company. The three manager suspected of leaking the secrets about Renault electric cars.

“They tell secret about the Renault electric car,” said the source of AFP in the Renault. A spokesman for Renault said the investigation of secret leakage of Renault electric cars began in late of August 2010, and the results refer to the three managers. Not yet clear to which car manufacturer the 3 Renault managers was leaking the confidential information about the Renault electric car.

Renault plans to launch electric version of the Renault Fluence that will be sold for 25,000 euros and Kangoo Express (20,000 euros) in mid of 2011, and they also will produce Twizy and Zoe car at the end of 2011 or 2012.

Renault’s interest in keeping the secret about their electric car because electric cars will be judge as one superior vehicle in the next few years. Renault estimates that by 2020, almost or even more than 10 percent of cars on the market are electric cars.

Together with partners from Japan’s Nissan, Renault-Nissan has invested 200 million euros per year for electric car program. Nissan has launched its first electric car called Nissan LEAF.
