Dodge, A History

An , produces both passenger and light-duty trucks/pickups. It was founded in 1900 as the Brothers company. It even ranked as high as second in U.S. sales in 1920, but the firm changed management in 1920 after the death of the founding brothers and was sold in 1928 to Chrysler. Chrysler’s short-lived alliance with Daimler-Benz from 1998 to 2007 was another interesting chapter in ’s story. It was then sold to a , and is currently in partnership with Fiat. Dodge Models

The Ram is the most well-known Dodge vehicle – a brawny pickup truck. It has a wider range of smaller cars and lifestyle vehicles including the Avenger, Caliber, Nitro and Journey. All these are products of a resurgent Dodge brand, and they were introduced in the latter half of the 2000-2010 decade.

A car that sticks out from the pack is the Caliber; it is a crossover, meaning it doesn’t fit into the categories- sedan, hatchback, SUV, estate or minivan. It is best described as a hatchback with raised clearance. The Caliber went on sale in 2006 and replaced the ailing and lacklustre . It features the trademark crosshair grille and flared wheel that are currently defining Dodge products.

The Nitro is a brought into market in 2007, although it looks anything but compact with its muscular proportions. The platform is shared with the Jeep Liberty. Despite its alluring name, the Dodge Avenger is a disappointing to the new Charger, despite sharing its raised haunches.

The Journey is more of an MPV – – designed for families, and is built on the Avenger platform. Production commenced in 2008, and it features forward-opening , not sliding ones.
