China’s automotive industry is growing rapidly. This is evidenced by the fantastic car sales figures and make this bamboo country became the largest car market in the world.

China’s economic prowess also became more evident by taking over of the luxury car manufacturer from Sweden, Volvo by Geely car manufacturer China.

And expansion as just doing by Geely was not even going to stop. Because another China car maker, BYD was also reported will follow in the footsteps of Geely by take over already well known foreign brands. BYD is reported planning and interested to take over the brand of the Mercedes Maybach.

Earlier Mercedes said they would plan to slow and eventually stop the production of car used by the popes of Vatican. But when Daimler works with BYD to produce electric cars in China, BYD offers to take over Maybach brand.

“As soon as Daimler ready to leave a brand, BYD will reach out to buy it,” said a source in BYD as quoted from China car times, Monday (29/3/2010).

But this plan is not without challenges, because BYD itself until now better known as a producer of inexpensive cars rather than a luxury car manufacturer. This makes BYD will work hard if they want to continue to raise the name of Maybach in the global automotive industry markets.

BYD’s interest to take over the Maybach in hope that they will gain increased popularity of their names which will ultimately help their sales of electric cars in North America and Europe.
