Mitsubishi’s new five-seat Outlander Sport is the latest in a growing segment of ultra-small crossovers that includes models like the upcoming Nissan Juke and Mini Cooper Countryman. It’s offered with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive and will be available in base ES and upper-level SE trim levels when it hits dealerships in fall.
The design connection between Mitsubishi’s larger Outlander crossover and the new Outlander Sport is clearly evident in the front ends of these two models. Both feature Mitsubishi’s distinctive trapezoidal grille that’s bisected by the bumper, and the slit-like headlights are even a little similar. Overall, the Outlander Sport is about 14 inches shorter than the Outlander. The Outlander Sport’s front fenders are made of dent-resistant plastic, and the ES trim level has standard 16-inch wheels and low-rolling-resistance tires, LED taillights and heated side mirrors. The SE trim adds 18-inch alloy rims, fog lamps and high-intensity-discharge headlights.

Outlander Sports come with front bucket seats and a 60/40-split folding backseat with a pass-through to the cargo area. Standard features include air conditioning, cruise control, steering-wheel audio controls, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, USB and auxiliary inputs, and Mitsubishi’s Fuse system that features Bluetooth for phone calls and audio streaming. SE trims add automatic climate control, automatic headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers and heated front seats. A Navigation Package and a Premium Package, which includes a panoramic glass roof and a Rockford Fosgate audio system, are optional for SE models.
The Outlander Sport is powered by a 148-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder that teams with a five-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission with paddle shifters that simulate gear changes. The available all-wheel-drive system includes a Lock mode for particularly slippery driving conditions.
Standard safety features include antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.

Performance-enhancing features and race-inspired design makes the all-new LS 460 Sport the most exhilarating package available to the LS Line.
The LS 460 Sport is fully equipped to perform, with a V8 engine delivering 380 horsepower where the ratings achieved using the required premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher. If premium fuel is not used, performance will decrease. And the world’s first eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters (the standard IS is equipped with a six-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission, while the IS F has an 8-speed Sport Direct-Shift transmission. Both transmissions allow for improved acceleration and fuel efficiency while the paddle-shift feature enables the driver to shift gears without removing hands from the steering wheel) on the steering wheel and downshift rev-matching. Offered exclusively on the LS 460 Sport, Brembo® brakes (High-friction brakes are standard equipment for the front brakes only and require periodic inspection and measurement as outlined in the Warranty and Services Guide. The pads and rotors are expected to experience greater wear than conventional brakes. Pad life may be less than 20,000 miles, and brake rotor life may be less than 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions) and a sport-tuned suspension, with the use of springs and shocks with stiffer rates, sport-tuned suspension gives the driver greater feedback from the road and decreases body sway that will help deliver an incredibly capable ride.

Lexus LS 460 Sport
Exterior style of the new LS 460 Sport gives the LS distinct, performance-oriented style. To begin with, it features an aggressive front sport grille, 19-inch split-10-spoke forged alloy wheels (19-in performance tires are expected to experience greater tire wear than conventional tires. Tire life may be substantially less than 15,000 miles, depending upon driving conditions), rocker panel-extensions and front spoilers that dip aggressively low to the ground.
In interior design, driving enthusiasts will appreciate the details inside the cabin where they’ll find race-inspired paddle shifters on the steering wheel, a perforated Black and Saddle Tan leather-trimmed interior and bolstered front sport seats.
