Volvo V70

Overview

The Volvo V70 is the third generation of Volvo’s best-selling estate car. It offers more of everything; it is more luxurious than its predecessor, sportier to drive, more space for both passengers and luggage and integrates a variety of intelligent solutions for flexible usage.

Exterior

The all-new Volvo V70 is also equipped with Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Intelligent Driver Information System (IDIS), two systems that can help the driver maintain better control over the driving situation. The body features a highly advanced structure that contributes to both good deformation properties in the event of a collision and to high torsional rigidity. Thanks to the design of the body structure and the optimised use of different grades of high-strength steel, torsional rigidity has been increased by no less than 15 percent compared to the previous V70 model. Good torsional rigidity is the very basis of the car’s excellent ride and roadholding properties.

Interior

Speed-dependent power steering is standard in the all-new Volvo V70. The system delivers more servo assistance at low speeds, for instance to make things easier when parking. Servo assistance is reduced as speed rises, disappearing entirely at higher cruising speeds. The V70 driver has a wide range of scope for adjusting the car’s comfort functions to suit his or her personal needs and wishes. These settings are altered in the car’s information system. The menu includes the seats, rear-view mirrors, climate unit, audio unit and to a certain extent the car’s driving properties.

Under the hood

There will also be a five-cylinder petrol engine on the new Volvo V70. It is fitted with a light-pressure turbocharger and produces 147 kW (200 hp) and 300 Nm of torque. The engine is very compact, partly because the turbocharger is integrated into the manifold. The engine is combined with a six-speed automatic Geartronic transmission, designed to handle the immense power of the most powerful turbo engines. With Geartronic it is also possible to change gear manually.

Safety

To improve safety for children in the rear seat of the all-new V70 model, Volvo has further developed the Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) with a stronger body structure, extended inflatable curtains and a height-adjustable integrated child booster cushion – the latter a world innovation. The new type of side-impact airbag launched with the all-new Volvo S80 makes Volvo’s patented Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) a more effective safety system. The new side impact airbag has two separate chambers – one for the hip section and one for the chest. The Volvo V70 features the same generation of WHIPS mechanism as was launched on the S80 model. Protection for pedestrians and cyclists has also been further developed in the all-new Volvo V70. The front has been given energy-absorbing properties, with a generously dimensioned soft structure in front of the bumper that helps reduce the risk of leg injuries. Power Parking Brake and DSTC are standard.

Rolls Royce until 1959 came with his Silver Cloud model, that after four years in production, was seen by the public as a car of the 40s, still powered by a six-cylinder engine obsolete, full of anachronisms, although carefully constructed and beautifully fitted.

Whilst accepting that in Crewe designers were inspired by the Chrysler engine, the goal was to compete with Cadillac for a desirable portion of the U.S. market.

Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III 1963

Built in aluminum, the new V8 engine, larger, more powerful, was lighter than the old six-cylinder.

Silver Cloud’s new box were equipped with 4-speed Hydromantic automatic, power steering and a triple braking system, mechanical and hydraulic, mechanical servo assisted by a Hispano Suiza.

Among the options: power windows and air conditioning.

But the final touches on the renovation came in 1962, with modifications in the front of the body.

The new U.S. regulations requiring, among other things, better lighting. Allowed double headlights pass from 120 to 150 Watts. And corresponding changes to the front fenders allowed to unify the position lights grow and combine with the rotation.

The classic radiator height decreased by 4 cm, increasing aerodynamic penetration and improving visibility from the driving position.

Many believe that the Silver Cloud III Rolls Royce is the last “true”.

The emergence of the following model, the Silver Shadow was a complete break with the past. The body construction work would not allow the independent body.

It was small and had little effect. But imagine you are stuck in the precarious situation, but the vehicle broke down only because of running out of oil. Silly is not it?

To prevent that it’s a good idea to follow the following tips;

1. Check all the parts that require liquid. Including brakes, power steering, acceleration, windshield. These parts are the type of ‘small but important’. What will happen to you if the brakes do not work when speeding?
2. Check tire pressure. Tire pressure was less able to reduce the efficiency of gasoline. And to prevent it, do it the prevention of this expensive anti at least once a month.
3. Treat the machine especially in the spark plug. This is because when the dirty or damaged, will decrease fuel efficiency by 30 percent.
