The Russian subsidiary of Volkswagen released the images of sedan version Polo. The model will have a trunk with a capacity of 460 liters and a larger wheelbase, which reaches 2.55 meters.

After coming to light several spy photos of the model, the Russian subsidiary of Volkswagen published a series of official pictures with a bit of information. Aesthetically, it is very similar to the hatchback, but with the addition of a third volume well done giving it a personality.

The smooth back of the Polo sedan is achieved through a redesign of the back door. The engine is a 1.6-liter that generates an output of 105 hp with a five-speed manual or automatic six. Prices will range from $ 12,800 to the lowest model in the range, and will reach 18,500 dollars for the top model. Among the models with which they compete, are the Chevrolet Aveo, Honda City and Ford Fiesta.

The fifth-generation 4Runner has undergone a complete redesign for 2010 while retaining its body-on-frame construction. There is no change in height or wheelbase, but it is 4 cm longer and 1.5 cm wider. Only one engine is offered, an improved version of the 4.0-litre V6, thus the V8 is no longer offered. The 4Runner, with a towing capacity of 2,268 kg, is available in three versions, SR5, Trail and Limited.

The interior has been reworked, and there’s a third-row seat for the Limited version that can accommodate two people. The Trail edition is distinguished by water resistant fabric seats designed to stand up to the rigours of outdoor activities, a slide-out cargo deck that can support up to 200 kg, a hood scoop, etc. In terms of safety, the 4Runner comes with eight airbags, active front head restraints and extra body reinforcements. The side curtain airbags can be deactivated to avoid deployment in a sharp off-road incline. Deactivating the roll detectors won’t prevent the curtain airbags from deploying in a collision.

Most noteworthy, however, are the mechanical upgrades. First, the improved 4.0-litre V6 delivers an additional 34 horsepower, and 12 pound-feet more torque, while using less fuel. It now produces 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a new, five-speed automatic transmission.

The Limited version gets a full-time four-wheel-drive system; the other two versions have a part-time system. In normal driving, the full-time system divides torque 40/60 between the front and rear. In case of front wheel slippage, the torque split becomes 30/70. If the rear wheels slip, the system can direct up to 53% of torque to the front. There are two modes, 4 High or 4 Low, for off-road driving. The part-time system offers a choice of three modes, 2 High, 4 High and 4 Low.

The aptly named Trail Edition is equipped with several features that fans of serious off-roading will appreciate. A console-mounted switch controls a locking centre differential. Two mechanisms are presented for the first time in this vehicle segment. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), is designed to optimize driveability on and off the road. As required by the terrain, KDSS disconnects the stabilizer bars to allow for more suspension travel and to keep the wheels in contact with the ground. Crawl Control (CRAWL) features a slow-speed regulator for off-road driving, using the brakes and throttle valve to control speed between 1.6 and 8 km/h. It lets the operator choose the speed he wants to drive, in 1.6-km/h increments, so that he can focus on steering. A Multi-Terrain Select system matches wheel slip control to the terrain: more-than-normal wheel slip in Mud and Sand mode, so that wheel spin can work in the vehicle’s favour; some slippage in Loose Rock mode; minimal slippage in Mogul mode; maximum slip reduction in Rock mode.

In our test run on the roads of Ontario, we found that the 4Runner is comfortable and fun to drive. A short but serious off-road excursion employed the assistance of all the off-road systems and demonstrated how formidably effective they are (purists can switch off all the systems if they so desire). It was important for Toyota to uphold the 4Runner off-road tradition, and we can attest that they have met that goal.

Though the $36,800 starting price is the same as for the preceding generation, standard equipment is more comprehensive.

The Audi A8 L W12 isn’t the only long-wheelbase saloon to debut at this year’s Beijing Motor Show. BMW has a stretched version of the all-new 2011 5 Series that’ll be built and sold exclusively in China, it is 2011 BMW 535Li. The limo-like Fiver is a full 5.5 inches longer than the standard 5 Series sedan, all of which accounts for additional rear legroom. New rear seat amenities like an entertainment system, adjustable sunblinds and a folding table are on hand, as well.

Spec-wise, the long-wheelbase BMW 5 Series isn’t much different than the models sold in other markets. Three six-cylinder engines are available and eight-speed automatic transmissions are standard across the board. It may not be as over-the-top as Herr Audi, but we’d gladly go for a ride in the back of this upscale Bimmer any day.

Jeep Nukizer 715 is a vehicle for any terrain that gives tribute to the idolized military vehicle Kaiser M-715.

With a Jeep J8 door, became the model in a pickup box to add an AEV Brute. To increase the size of the model, the wheelbase is stretched to 124 inches from the 116 inches.

The model has a roof created by Bestop fabric that captures the idea of the original.

Improvements include axes dynaTrace Dana Pro-Rock 44 front and Dana 60 rear axle and differential ARB will airlock.

The power is distributed through a customized differential Atlas II. To keep the military look, the model has some tires BF Goodrich Mud Terrains 36 “or a Hutchinson beadlock.

The engine is a 2.8-liter turbo diesel that was reprogrammed to generate more power.

To protect the chassis added off-road side skirts. Other items included in the model are a winch, an air compressor and a navigation system.
