New Delhi – cheap car maker, Tata Nano, Tata Motors failed to reach the target of car sales in 2010. The failure is because many Indian people who cancel the purchase of the Tata Nano car.

Cancellation comes from Tata Nano consumers who book a car through online system. Tata Motors did not say how many prospective buyers who decided to cancel the purchase. The information obtained is because consumers are too long to wait the pivot.

“Maybe consumers cancel the booking of Tata Nano because they are too long to wait for the car. That’s their choice. But we have been informed if the car is ready to be sent,” Tata Motors spokesman said as quoted by the Financial Express on Sunday (09/01/2011).

Since mid-2009 until late 2009, Tata Motors has managed to send a total of 77 thousand units of Tata Nano. And for 2010 Tata Motors plans to send as many as 155 thousand units of Tata Nano to customers in two phases.

Outstanding issues indicate if the Indian cancel the purchase of Tata Nano because the level of safety in the car is very worrying. In 2010, this cheap cars have 6 cases of fire, but was lucky because there were no casualties.

Associated with it, the Tata Motors management has been suggested the consumer of Tata Nano to come to the nearest dealer and fix the location of production errors and said that it’s not a big accident and don’t need to be recalled.

In November 2010, the sales of Tata Nano reached the lowest ever which is only sold about 509 units.

For the middle class in India, owning a car is a status and have a Tata Nano means to be prepared referred as the car of the poor. That is rejected by the middle class in India.
